Provincial Nomination - Alberta

Alberta has a particular agreement with Canadian Central Government when it comes to Immigration. Their provincial nominee program is very much centred on the employment sector and is driven in large part by provincial businesses who have appealed to government to allow them to recruit easily from other countries.

It has recently become apparent that in some situations the Canadian work force in the immediate area lacks the skills required by certain employers. In the situations where this is the case, these employers may apply for permission to recruit a number of foreign skilled workers to fill staff positions.

In order to keep the program in line with central government, applications are only heard where the position cannot be filled by a current Canadian resident, is for a non part-time position and where the position satisfies labour laws.

Potential employees can only apply to be nominated by Alberta if they already have a guaranteed job offer from a provincial business. It is also worth remembering that approval by the Alberta Provincial Nominee Program does not also guarantee a visa. Approved nominees must still satisfy Immigration regulations concerning health, criminal and security concerns before residency, and the appropriate visas, are issued.
