Some visitors who required a Temporary Resident Visa to visit Canada are asked to provide a letter of invitation from someone in Canada. If you have been asked to provide such a letter you should follow this guide.
The letter must be written by a resident of Canada and be notarised by a Notary Public. The letter should then be sent to the person you are inviting to Canada. They must include the letter with their application for a Temporary Resident Visa.
The following information about the person you are inviting to visit must be included in the letter:
Complete name.
Date of birth.
The person's address in their home country
The person's and telephone number.
Information about your relationship to the person being invited.
The reason for the trip.
The duration of their stay in Canada
Information about where they will be staying and the expenses of the stay.
The date the person intends to leave Canada.
Your letter must also include the following information about yourself:
Complete name.
Date of birth.
Address and telephone number in Canada.
Occupation.
Whether you are a Permanent Resident or Canadian citizen.
A photocopy of a document showing your status in Canada. Examples would include a Canadian birth certificate, a Canadian citizenship card, or a Permanent Resident Card.
